How do I Choose the Right User Interface?

To open BitDefender:

• either go to the Windows Start menu, select BitDefender 2011 from the Programs list or directly if pined to the start menu, or
• double-click the BitDefender icon in the system tray

BitDefender 2011 is designed to meet the needs of computer beginners and very technical people alike.  You can choose to view the BitDefender controls in three different Views:

• BASIC
• INTERMEDIATE or
• EXPERT

depending on your computer skills and preferences.

If you are a computer beginner, displaying the user interface in Basic View may be the best choice for you. This view is simple to use, and requires minimal interaction on your side, as most security configuration is done automatically by BitDefender.

Aimed at users with average computer skills, Intermediate View is a straightforward interface that gives you access to all modules. You'll receive warnings and critical alerts and will be asked to fix undesired issues.

Expert View is suited for more technical users.  This view allows you to fully configure and view the details of each BitDefender feature:

• antivirus,
• antispam,
• parental control,
• privacy control,
• firewall,
• vulnerability,
• backup,
• encryption,
• tune-up,
• game and laptop modes,
• home network,
• update and
• registration.

You can easily switch from one view to the other by clicking the Options menu in the upper right corner of the window. Choosing Preferences from this menu allows you to configure other aspects of the product’s functionality.
