What is the Quarantine and How Does it help me?

BitDefender allows isolating infected or suspicious files in a secure area, referred to as the quarantine. This eliminates the risk of getting your system infected and, at the same time, allows you to send these files for further analysis to the BitDefender AV Lab. BitDefender scans quarantined files after each malware signature update. Cleaned files are automatically moved back to their original location.

To see and manage the quarantined files and to configure the quarantine settings, switch to the Expert View, go to the Quarantine tab from the Antivirus module.

By configuring the quarantine settings, you can specify how long files are quarantined before being deleted, and how frequently BitDefender should check for old files.  You can also customize the duplicate files searching method.

To automatically delete old quarantined files, check the corresponding option. If you decide to submit quarantined files to BitDefender Labs for analysis, please note that these files will contain no confidential data, such as your name or IP address, and that they will not be used for commercial purposes.

When malware is sent to quarantine, the files will appear listed in the table. You can delete, restore or send the file to the BitDefender Labs.
