How Do I Configure BitDefender Alerts?
You can configure the product settings from the Preferences window.
- Right-click the BitDefender Icon in the system tray or, access the security solution and choose the Preferences option in the Options menu, located at the top right corner of any main product window.
- In this area, you can enable or disable settings that affect product behavior. A switch, either ON (enabled) or OFF (disabled), indicates the current status of a setting.
- To change the status of a setting, click the switch. (Clicking the switch does not result in a change of status, if the respective product feature is not available in your product).
Please note that if the Product Notification Alerts from the General Settings tab, is ON, product-related pop-up messages will appear on your desktop.
BitDefender can track the status of the following security components:
- the Antivirus real-time protection and on-demand scan
- the Vulnerability Scan which lets you know if you need to install any Windows updates, critical application updates, or if you should strengthen or improve the passwords you use on your system.
- the Firewall,
- the Antispam,
- the Antiphishing,
- Parental Control and
- Malware signature updates.
- If enabled, File Encryption monitors the status of the File Vault and Chat Encryption monitors the instant messaging conversations.
You can of course turn on or off the alerts for the modules presented here.
