How Do I Allow a Program to Connect to the Internet?

The BitDefender Firewall protects your computer from unauthorized inbound and outbound connection attempts.

By default, BitDefender automatically allows all the programs on its Whitelist to access network services and the Internet. A Whitelist is a list of programs that the BitDefender labs have determined to be safe.

By accessing the Programs tab in the Firewall module, you can view the programs rules and add new rules. To edit and remove rules you should access the Firewall module from the Expert View.

You can “allow” or “deny” the access to a certain application. You will also be able to indicate the path of the program you wish to restrict, block or allow access to and to add your favorite programs to the whitelist.

You can of course edit rules, add new ones and specify the path of the program you want to allow or block

A troubleshooting wizard will help you sort out any issues related to this configuration.  The wizard will check for a connection and if access to the Internet is not available, you will be redirected to integrated support.  According to the specific situation, the wizard will generate a rule that will be passed to the firewall application logic. The Troubleshooting wizard will be launched from the firewall interface and, if appropriate, from Integrated Support, as an additional troubleshooting method.
